The University of Kansas presents a unique professional development experience with the option of graduate credit.
Pictures of the Floating World is a free PD workshop or graduate-credit class for all K-14 educators who want to know more about pre-modern Japan as seen in its beautiful woodblock prints. Content and resources for teaching will cover how these prints were created, how they reflect the changing status and tastes of a growing urban populace, and how they influenced Western art. Presentations align with KSDE standards for fine art, but will benefit all educators interested in learning more about this pivotal period in Japanese history using art as a primary source.
WHEN: Saturday, October 6th, 8:15 AM – 10:15 AM in Room #126A, Carlson Center, Johnson County Community College followed by FREE admission to the Greater Kansas City Japan Festival. (If graduate credit desired, view online presentations at your own pace; see syllabus at http://kcta.ku.edu/resources.)
BENEFITS FOR K-14 EDUCATORS:
