The Educational Technology Interest Section (EdTech IS) is excited to present the FIRST ever EdTech Bazaar at the MIDTESOL 2016 conference. The EdTech Bazaar will give participants opportunities to view demonstrations of how educators are using emerging and existing technology in new ways to enhance English language learning. The demonstrations will focus on web tools and how teachers have used them in their learning context. Because of the intimate, small-group setting, participants will have the unique ability to ask specific questions about how these tools work and how their use can be adapted to different contexts. In this way, the EdTech Bazaar will consist of exciting participatory sessions that are part demonstration, part collaboration spanning over both days of the MIDTESOL conference.
Friday Format for EdTech Bazaar
During Friday’s segment of the EdTech Bazaar, presenters will share, demonstrate, collaborate, and even workshop various technology related tools, programs, and ideas for technology integration in concurrent 40-minute sessions. (In other words, multiple presentations will be happening at the same time.) The sessions, located in the EdTech Bazaar, are bring your own device (BYOD) style sessions focusing on specific presenter information. Attendees are free to move about the room while searching for topics of interest.
Saturday Format for EdTech Bazaar
During Saturday’s segment of the EdTech Bazaar, presenters will be stationed at a total of four individual tables throughout the room. Each presenter will give two, 20-minute demonstrations back to back. Participants will be free to either move about the room during the sessions to get a small taste of each demonstration, or stay at one station for the full 20 minutes. After the first demonstration is completed, the presenters will begin again to allow participants to view at least two sessions during each 40-minute time frame.
