This year, Black English Language Professionals and Friends (BELPAF) is partnering with ACTION TESOL Caribbean (ATC) for the third annual BELPAF Symposium on Saturday, July 24, 2021, from 8:30-4:30 EST. This year’s theme is Creating and Sustaining Vibrant ELT Communities Across the Globe.
The overarching goal of the symposium is twofold. First, to provide an inclusive platform for ELT professionals to showcase their creativity across global English Language teaching and learning contexts. Attendees from all cultural, linguistic, professional, and national backgrounds are welcome. Second, to provide a forum for Black English language professionals and our friends worldwide to present their research, pedagogy, or materials related to social justice, race, diversity, equity, inclusion, and other matters of interest to ELT professionals, and those who teach and support Black ELs. As such, the programme will feature multimodal plenary sessions and a diverse slate of dynamic presentations.
Both BELPAF and ATC support the growth of TESOL professionals of color and elevate the needs of ELs of color through diverse collaborative and educational activities. And this symposium is one of them! You are invited to support colleagues, develop professionally, raise awareness on a current topic, or give visibility to the Englishes of the Caribbean and Englishes around the globe, either as a presenter or a participant.
