Reports from Officers
President’s Report -Dennis
- MIDTESOL is a member of the TESOL rebate program. We get $4 rebates on new memberships and $2 rebates on returning memberships
- We are members of the Midwest Accord. Dennis asked who wants to host Midwest regional? Schedule for next year (NOV).
- Cathy said MWR is a bigger conference (includes northern midwest).
- There is a seed fund of $2500 plus percentage of conference proceeds for hosting the conference.
- MIDTESOL would be subsumed within MIDWEST Regional conference (no separate conferences for MT).
- Cathy worries that now we have trouble having people participate in MIDTESOL. Would we be able to have enough people to work?
- Barb said there were 500-600 attendees last time.
- The Missouri rep would be involved. It will be a new person in that position.
- Cheryl suggested that MO rep wouldn’t have any more responsibilities for the conference than anyone else.
- Barb asked if they still meet at TESOL. Dennis said they meet briefly.
- Barb said that originally the conference rotated from state to state.
- Dennis suggested that we would probably need more than a year. HE suggested waiting for the next lineup.
- Jane concurred.
- Motion: Jane moved that we continue to be signatories to the accord.
- Second: Cathy seconded
- Motion approved

- We have 114 rooms.
- TV / VCR units in presentation rooms are available only if we pay for them.
- Cheryl suggested that we pay for A/V rather than moving them around from room to room.
- We have 26 presentations / 36 presenters.
- Susan said she heard that there was a booklet that talks about how to plan for the conference. Ron said that we can get a copy from TESOL.

- New directories are here.
- Jan wondered if we are liable if someone experiences a problem since we publish everyone’s address, etc.
- Cathy said in the past we mailed directories only to members as a mass mailing.
- Ron said there are 2 sides: we promote networking, and the directory is a tool for that. On the other hand, is that enough of a reason to leave the info in the directory?
- She would like to send out a promotional letter to attract potential members.
- Jane suggested that we have new members check a box if they don’t want to include their info in the directory.
- Ron suggested that we add to membership form that MIDTESOL doesn’t share or sell info.
