MidTESOL is welcoming the new millennium with a new Travel Award that will support an ESL professional in attending a TESOL Academy.

The award winner will receive money to cover his or her travel, registration, and room and board expenses—not to exceed $650. Application information is provided below. Please consider applying!

Who’s Eligible: MidTESOL members who are currently ESL teachers, teacher trainers, or supervisors.

Criteria: Applications will be evaluated according to (a) reasons for wanting to attend the academy, (b) the benefit attendance will bring to the applicant, his/her students, other teachers in his/her community, and the membership of MidTESOL, (c) evidence of commitment to the teaching of English to speakers of other languages, and (d) financial need.

Application process: Send to the address below a personal statement describing (a) your reasons for wanting to attend the academy you have selected, (b) your ESL professional experiences including years, locations, and responsibilities, (c) ways you and others will benefit from your attendance at the academy, and (d) your current financial situation.

Application deadline: Applications must be received by May 25, 2000.
